Booking Policy & House Rules

Thank you for thinking of coming down to Hengchun to find us! Please take a few minutes to read these notes before booking — short, but they keep both sides clear and comfortable about the agreement.

1. How you can book

Happiness Space Inn is a family guesthouse with 6 rooms over four storeys (1F is the owner’s home, 2F–4F are guest rooms). We accept both single-room bookings and whole-house bookings for family and friends:

• Single rooms — choose a room by party size (double or quad), minimum one room. During your stay owner Ms. Chu is on the ground floor and hosts you in person — the car barely stops before she comes out to greet you, and there’s always someone around if you need anything. This is “feels like home”. Every room has its own balcony with cross-ventilation; quad rooms feature an in-room corner soaking tub with bath toys.
• Whole house — book all 6 rooms across four storeys: up to 16 guests, extra beds to 20. Family trips, company retreats, student groups and motorcycle clubs all welcome. For whole-house bookings the owner does not stay in the house — all four storeys and 6 rooms, living room to terrace, are yours, with no other guests and no one in the way. (Before and after your stay the host still helps with check-in and key handover.)

2. Spaces & facilities

Every room has its own balcony (corner-lot end unit, cross-ventilation), bathroom, air conditioning and TV. After each check-out we fully change the linens and clean the space; all bedding is sun-dried and UV-sterilised — you can smell the sunshine when you slip in.

Available to single-room guests:

• Ocean-themed stairwell (blue-and-white waves, shells, twin-fish hooks, a real pufferfish-specimen skylight lamp)
• Free Wi-Fi (whole building), water dispenser, baby bathtubs (2 — please tell us when booking; no baby cot)
• Free self-service laundry + laundry service, luggage storage, bicycles (free to borrow — just ask the host), boat-ticket / activity booking
• Indoor space for 6–7 big motorcycles (sheltered) plus 6 cars nearby

“Premium whole-house package” (whole-house only):

• Ground-floor living room (gold-orange warmth, 85” 4K smart TV)
• Touchscreen song-select KTV + high-end audio
• Brand-new roller-coaster-style automatic mahjong table
• Sanre top-flame smokeless gas grill (front porch; ingredients can be pre-ordered, please clean up after grilling)
• Large kids’ splash pool (front porch, about 30 cm deep)
• Kitchenette bar (cook your own, hot pot welcome, tableware & cookware provided), shared fridge, large 2F terrace

The ground-floor common area (living room, KTV, mahjong table, smokeless grill, splash pool, kitchen) is the owner’s living space during single-room stays and is not open to single-room guests. For whole-house bookings the owner moves out and these spaces are entirely yours.

There is no curfew — out late, night market, stargazing — come back whenever.

3. Check-in / check-out

• Check-in: after 3:00 PM (15:00).
• Check-out: before 11:00 AM.
• Host service hours: weekdays 08:00–22:00.
• Luggage drop-off: accepted from 9:00 AM (09:00).

Arriving early? You’re welcome to drop off your bags, wander Hengchun’s old street, grab a shaved ice — we’ll let you know when the room is ready. If you’ll arrive later than expected, please contact the host first; if you’re well past the agreed time and unreachable, we’ll treat the booking as forfeited so we can plan around it.

4. Deposit & booking process

We require a deposit in advance — the room is held, and the booking confirmed, once the deposit is received.

1. Confirm availability and the total rate with us by phone, LINE or Facebook message.
2. Once you decide to stay, we’ll tell you the deposit amount (30% of the total) and the bank account: Post Office 700-00710280370670, Chu Yu-Yun.
3. After paying, send back the last five digits of the account or a screenshot of the transfer.
4. Once we confirm receipt, the booking is final.

Deposit: 30% of the total rate.

Stay-longer deal: 10% off the room rate from the 2nd consecutive night.

Taiwan Travel Card accepted (a licensed Pingtung B&B — License No. 0588).

5. Cancellation & refunds

Plans change — we understand. If you need to cancel, please tell us as early as possible.

Refund percentages follow the Tourism Administration (MOTC) “Mandatory and Prohibited Provisions of the Standard B&B Contract” — this part is set by regulation and cannot be altered. Counting back from the check-in date:

Typhoon / natural disaster waiver: if the Pingtung County Government announces a suspension of work and classes on your check-in day (typhoon or major disaster), the deposit is fully refundable, or you may keep it for a future date of your choosing (reschedule).

6. Guest count & extra beds

Headcount limits aren’t us being difficult — they protect the comfort and safety of every group.

• Please stay with the number of guests agreed at booking; infants and small children count toward the total.
• If the headcount changes, please tell us in advance; we’ll arrange an extra bed where possible. Extra-bed fee: NT$500 per bed/night (single-room) or per person/night (whole-house).
• Whole-house bookings take up to 16 guests, extra beds to 20. If you arrive with more guests than booked without prior notice, we reserve the right to decline check-in and treat it as a same-day cancellation.

7. Pets

Pets are welcome, but please contact us before booking to ask and get approval first. Because some guests have allergies and we need to look after the indoor linens and furniture, please check with Ms. Chu in advance (by phone, LINE or WeChat) on whether your pet can join you and any limits on number or room type — so there are no surprises on arrival.

8. Breakfast

We don’t serve breakfast — because Hengchun has too many brunch spots worth sleeping in for! Your host is happy to share a personal shortlist.

9. Non-smoking

Under Taiwan’s Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act, all indoor areas (rooms, living room, bathrooms) are strictly non-smoking, including e-cigarettes. If you need to smoke, please move to a balcony or outdoors and use an ashtray. Thank you.
